iPod Taping of your student
During the first lesson of each month your student and I select a song to perfect to performance quality. This particular piece of music is labeled as their iPod Song in your student's weekly assignment notebook. This song is the one they will perfect by the end of the month.

At the last lesson of the month your student will play that month's iPod Song while I audio tape them on my iPod. Then, at the end of the year recital, I will gift to each student their specific CD of their school year's worth of iPod Songs. They will be able to share and play their personal CD on the car stereo, in their room, or off of their computer. You are free to copy the CD and share with out of town relatives!

The purpose of the iPod Song is to give each student a mini-goal in perfecting a piece of music. They will always be prepared to perform for a small audience. Also, they will have an audio record of their progress through the years, and a fun conversation piece when they are older.

I wish that I had audio recordings of my glory days while taking piano lessons. I know I would love to relive those moments, and share with my own children the style and type of music that I played when I was younger.

Spring Recital
Date and location to be announced in early 2011. Students will be working on two recital songs starting in late March. The end of the school year recital will be open to all family, friends, and the community.

The recital is a special time of year to celebrate the achievements of each student, and to help students master the skills of performance. It is not a requirement that the students memorize their music, as I would rather they perform to their best of ability with music in front of them, than to get flustered in memory skills and not perform their best.

Because musical selections are determined by April, students have the opportunity to learn their music in plenty of time to be well organized and ready for the recital performance. Enjoyment is my goal at the recital, therefore, the tone of the recital is a relax atmosphere with plenty of smiles and calm so that the student's memory of performance is one of joy.
